About me

I am a developer, researcher, lecturer and ai enthusiast at the chair of Educational Data Science at the University of Regensburg (Bavaria/Germany).

Datenschauer is a german play-on-words, consisting of two words: “Daten” and “Schauer”, where “Daten” obviously means “data” and “Schauer” having three different meanings:

  • “Schauer” as the nominalization of “schauen” which means “to look at”, “to consider”. So I really love to look at data and considering it's implications.
  • “Schauer” as a word for “heavy, pouring rain” – think of the word “shower” as having a common ancestor. Well, we are in the era of abundant data. All time we have to cope with this abundance. We should embrace this situation, by staying critically at the same time! We don't want to be washed away, right?
  • “Schauer” as a metaphor for being electrified and amazed. So data is really something which still makes me awe a lot of the time!
